Q. Why should I heat with wood pellets?
A. Wood pellets are a superior biomass fuel that is renewable, sustainable, and carbon-neutral. Modern wood pellet boilers are clean, safe, efficient, and reliable. They have been used in Europe for over 15 years. Wood pellets generally cost less than home heating oil, propane or electricity for heating. Money spent heating with wood pellets stays within the United States and benefits the local economy.
Q. Why are wood pellets and wood chips considered low-carbon?
A. They are low-carbon because they are made from trees, sawdust, or other forms of wood waste. Trees use carbon dioxide in their photosynthesis growth phase. The carbon dioxide consumed during this growth phase offsets the carbon dioxide emitted during the combustion phase. This carbon cycle for wood is contrasted to the use of fossil fuels, which are derived from plants that grew millions of years ago.
Q. How can EnTec Works help us decide whether to use wood pellets or chips
for heating or process energy?
A. We help institutions and businesses in assessing the costs and benefits of switching to wood pellet or wood chip heating and\or hot water energy production. We focus on larger buildings, educational institutions, and businesses that are concerned about their energy costs as well as the environmental impact of the fuel they use. For clients that want to use a wood fuel, EnTec Works can act as general contractor with respect to the planning, procurement, and installation of wood pellet or other biomass equipment. We can provide or assist in obtaining financing and other tax and governmental incentives. We are also willing to supply heat and hot water as part of an energy services arrangement for clients who do not want to make an up-front capital investment.
